There is a healthy renaissance in the Island distilling industry. There are also a few micro stills in the making.
THE ARRAN is independently owned and puts out some interesting 46% alc/vol Malts.
THE HIGHLAND PARK on Orkney has been in operation since 1978. Its respect has been earned from it’s distilling traditions.
THE SCAPA is situated on the Scapa Flow. Almost all Scapa now goes into single malts.
THE ISLE OF JURA is produced with a heavy peat finish with Highland notes in character.
THE TALISKER is the oldest working distillery on the Isle of Skye set on the shores of Loch Harport. Its single malt is known for its alluring sweet full-body all over the world.
THE TOBERMORY on the Island of Mull has two youthful editions. Both are at 46%abv and non-chill filtered. The Tobermory is made from unpeated maltings with the Ledaig coming from the same still but from peated maltings.
THE ABHAINN DEARG was a newly constructed distillery in 2008 in Uig on the Island of the Outer Hebrides. The whisky in the warehouse is now 9 years old and its first bottlings are eagerly awaited.
