Glen Elgin 14 y/o Pintail from The Whisky Cellar 54.1% 70cl

Glen Elgin 14 y/o Floc de Gascogne (Red) Wine Cask Finish in the Pintail range from The Whisky Cellar 54.1% 70cl.

Distilled 11/06/2008 and bottled in February 2023. Global allocation c. 300 bottles. 

This is a rare and unique cask distilled and filled at the Glen Elgin Distillery in Speyside after spending the last four months of its maturation in a barrel which had previously held the nutty fruity floral Floc de Gascogne (Red) wine. 

Keith Bonnington, owner of the Pintail brand, believies the Floc de Gascogne (Red) wine cask has not previously been used in the Scotch Whisky industry for maturation purposes, so this is a first. 

Appearance is bright gold with a rose hint. Nose Rosehip, toasted almonds, dried cranberries, peppery oak. Palate more salty nutty qualities with a Morello cherries, nutmeg, pink peppercorns and hints of cigar smoke. Finish sweet red fruits, ripe plums and a whiff of smouldering charcoal.
