"Old Ballantruan" has its name due to the Ballantruan Spring used at the Tomintoul Distillery. The Tomintoul Smoky Original Non-Chill Filtered Peated Speyside Single Malt. Distilled using heavily peated malted barley in the traditional manner. 

After maturing in hand picked American oak ex-bourbon casks this fine single malt imparts notes of warming spice and a sweet yet spicy long-lasting finish. Non-Chill Filtered and bottled at 50% this 15 year old Speyside Peated Malt is exceptional value. 

Established in 1965, Tomintoul Distillery is located near to the village of Tomintoul, the highest village in the Highlands of Scotland and in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park. This natural environment combined with the fresh mountain air, the soft, pure water from the Ballantruan spring and the tall and mighty stills of Tomintoul, all contribute to creating our exceptionally smooth and well-balanced whisky.

Colour: Barley Gold

Nose: Gentle ‘peat-reek’ with mild gun-flint notes softened by sweet, mature, creamy Speyside malt. Hints of herbal-heathery spice.

Palate: The smokiness is very apparent yet soft and tempered with toffee sweetness and gentle oaky spice.

Finish: Superb balance of soft smoke, sweetness and spice in an endless labyrinth.
