Balvenie 12 year old DoubleWood Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky 40% 70cl
Balvenie Distillery
The Balvenie Distillery in Speyside was established in 1892 and has been currently owned by the same family company for five generations.
This bottling of Peat Week is a 2002 Vintage and shows this distillation was during week 37 in 2002, making this a bottle from the first week when peating was added to the spirit making process at the distillery.
From 2002, The Balvenie commenced making a peated spirit, so for one week in each year they ran heavily peated barley through their whisky making process. The week was changed each year and the early tubes show the week identified on a calendar.
'Peat Week' was then released as a 14 year old in 2017. This style of bottling and tube only lasted two years before the Peat Week was moved to the Balvenie Stories range in 2019.
In May 2019 The Balvenie added The Balvenie Stories Range and moved this bottling of Peat Week to their new range and changed the name to 'The Week of Peat - Story No. 02'.
