Both bottle and box are in very good condition.
Colour: Walnut Brown
Nose: Very intense and full of rich sherry notes. Initially there are hints of rich dried fruits, marzipan and icing sugar, characteristic of a rich fruit cake. There is also a whiff of peat, leather and medicinal notes of mild antiseptic. Later there is a burnt sweetness like treacle and liquorice.
Palate: Incredibly rich and full bodied, this whisky is balanced between both sweet and dry notes. At full strength , the taste is initially sweet with dried fruits and marzipan, followed by floral and spicy notes giving a full and astringent mouthfeel.
Palate with Water: The taste is simiilar in flavour character with fruit cake and floral notes, but progressing to dryness more quickly than at full strength. Followed by liquorice and coffee with dark chocolate notes.
Finish: Long leaving a rich and dry aftertaste with liquorice, bitter dark chocolate and roasted coffee.
