Bottled over 10 years ago, this is a classic bottling of the Highland Park 18 year old Single Malt. 

Highland Park takes its name from the High Park area on the outskirts of Kirkwall, Orkney where in 1798 a local smuggler Magnus Eunson began distilling illegal whisky. 

The tube describes the Highland Park approach to whisky making. They slowly malt their barley on a stone floor. This is turned by hand to deliver a more balanced flavour then smoke the barley with aromatic peat, hand cut from Hobbister Moor to bring a unique fragrant heather character to the whisky. The spirit is then taken from the stills and carefully filled into sherry oaked casks from Spain. These casks deliver the natural colour and distinctive honey sweetness, to complement the aromatic peat. The spirit is then laid to rest for at least 18 years to breath in the cool Orcadian air. When ready they combine their best casks and leave then to settle and harmonise. The result is a uniquely smooth and balanced Single Malt with a rich toffee sweetness and a long mouthwatering smoky finish.
