Kilkerran Single Malt Scotch Whisky is produced at the Campbeltown distillery Glengyle which was re-built and opened in 2004.
Glengyle complete all parts of the whisky production process on site from the traditional floor maltings at the sister distillery Springbank to the bottling of every edition at the bottling hall in Campbeltown.
Sharing a production team and calendar with the neighbouring Springbank Distillery, Glengyle has a short production period of around three months per year, typically operational from October – December.
70% Ex Bourbon, 30% Ex Sherry
Released annually each maturation can vary slightly.
Nose: Notes of Iberico ham on the nose, along with notes of tinned pineapple, green apples and demerara sugar.
Palate: Coastal note reminiscent of the seaside and shingle beaches, along with hints of lemon yoghurt, ground pepper and a touch of peat smoke.
Finish: There is a freshness in the finish and the peat smoke influence endures in notes of toasted marshmallows.
