Lindores Abbey 'Bourbon Cask Finish' Lowland Single Malt Scotch Whisky 49.4% 70cl

The first “Casks of Lindores” bottling featured exclusively Bourbon barrels, one of the three core cask types used at Lindores.

Limited to only 11,000 bottles.

At Lindores they believe that their Lindores spirit goes extremely well with bourbon casks which helps to showcase its early maturing characteristic. The very long wash fermentation period in the Douglas fir washbacks, coupled with their “Sister Spirit stills distillation” helps create a spirit that matures early but also develops over time.

The Bourbon Cask finish bottling has only been available through selected Lindores stockists.

Packaged in the distinctive Lindores bottle and livery with colour specific base labels these bottlings are bottled at the distillery without chill filtration and at the Lindores bottling strength of 49.4%.

Their first release of single malt whisky was in 2021.

Lindores Abbey Distillery currently use the Laureate strain of barley grown on local farms whose fields surround the distillery and these would have originally been Abbey lands. They have three copper pot stills, one large wash still and two smaller spirit stills, which allows a greater copper contact in the final distillation, to create a clean and delicate flavour within the spirit.

Fermentation in traditional wooden washbacks, supplied by Joseph Brown of Dufftown.

The water for their whisky comes from a borehole near the distillery, which they believe is the same water supply used in 1494. The Abbey was fed by several wells such as the Abbots well, the Monks well, the Bluidy well and the Witches well.

In this age of sustainability and with the aim to cut their carbon footprint, their supply chain has become ever more local and this allows them to support local businesses.

Colour: Pale gold

Nose: Mellow vanilla, fruity, vibrant and buttery with citrus touches and a hint of pepper from the wood

Palate: Vanilla mixed with orchard fruits like green apples, then peppercorns

Finish: Lingering and long.
