This Mystery Malt offers Murray McDavid's specially selected single malt to puzzle whisky lovers. Named as the finest from Mull leaving you to work out which distillery you believe where this single malt was created.
The clue is: From a distillery built on the Isle of Mull in 1798, this mystery malt is a safe haven that will put a smile on the face of peated whisky lovers. Today we present this traditional spirit in a modern fashion: matured in newly matured Calvados casks now deemed worthy of enhancing this whisky.
Distilled in 2014 and bottled in 2025 and limited to only 647 bottles.
Non chill filtered and Natural Colour bottled at 52.9%
This innovative dram has been finished for its final four years in casks previously used to mature Calvados, a fine french spirit made from apples. Flavours of sweet Scottish smoke dance through the fresh orchards of Normandy.
Nose: Smoked apple, grass and sweet citrus.
Palate: Candied pear, costal peat and lemon.
Finish: Sweet smoke, orchard and grapefruit.
Since 1994 Murray McDavid have been poineers in the Art of Maturation by aging whisky in casks previously used for fine wines and spirits. Mystery Malt is a Single Malt Scotch Whisky allowing you to work out which distillery produced the spirit.
