Balvenie 15 year old Single Barrel Sherry Cask Bottle No. 279 Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky 47.8% 70cl
Balvenie Distillery
The Balvenie Distillery in Speyside was established in 1892 and has been currently owned by the same family company for five generations.
This single malt has been matured exclusively in a First Fill Ex-Bourbon Barrel for at least 12 years. These barrels are made of a species of oak called Querus Alba, also known as white oak, though more commonly known as American Oak. When used for the very firt time this is known as First Fill.
Released at 47.8% and Non Chill Filtered.
David Stewart the Malt Master carefully samples the aged whisky cask by cask to ensure each barrel meets the requirement for Balvenie's Single Barrel First Fill Cask.
Single cask number 5829 and bottle number 169 from no more than 300 bottles from the single barrel.
The Balvenie Single Barrel derives its name from a single cask of a single distillation. No two casks of the same type and filled with new make spirit from the same distillation will produce an identical single malt, so each bottling will be of a limited edition.
Tasting Notes are based on no two single barrels being exactly the same, the notes are based on the consistent character that is rich and complex with a deep vanilla oakiness. Honey notes are overlaid with sweet fruits and subtle spices. The finish is lingeringly sweet.
