The Macallan Edition No. 5 Limited Edition explores the role of exceptional oak casks to create the natural colour of this Single Malt Whisky. The Macallan collaborated with the Pantone Color Institute. The result is a unique and bold shade of purple developed by Pantone exclusively to represent The Macallan Edition No.5.
Only American Oak casks were used to make Edition No.5. The casks were specifically selected for their colour and wonderfully full flavour. This unique whisky presents a beautiful pale amber colour with an intense flavour profile delivering sweet notes of caramel and fresh fruit combined with oak spices.
Cask combination includes Hogshead 37%, Barrel 33% and Butt 30%.
With the natural colour of sunlit barley, Edition No.5 delivers an abundance of depth and flavour. Charming scents of vanilla and toffee merge with spices of oak, nutmeg and ginger followed by fusing hints of lemon, basil and pear. A buttery caramel taste moves into sweet poached peaches and ripe pear. Followed by light oak spices lingering in the finish.
