Benromach 15 year old The Classic Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky 43% 70cl

Benromach Distillery was originally founded in 1898 and mothballed in 1983.

Gordon and MacPhail then purchased the distillery in 1993 and commenced operation in 1998. The aim from this new beginning was to recreate an old school style Speyside Single Malt and use peated malt of around 12-14ppm for their entire operation.

The first Benromach 15 year old followed on after the first 10 year old and was produced around 2015.

The longer maturation over the 10 year old softened the smokiness to hints of charred oak while developing the wood-imbued character. Bourbon casks cultivate the sweetness of vanilla pods and honey while sherry casks impart rich fruity notes.

Tasting Notes: Sherry and rich fruitcake with stewed plums. Darker hints of cocoa and a touch of smoke.
