From the Holyrood Distillery the mindset for Embra was to create a whisky that resembled a gateway to the world of peated whisky. Embra has been triple matured in a combination of first-fill bourbon barrels, Islay quarter casks, and New American oak barrels.

Embra finds the perfect balance between capturing the classic bold smoky flavours and textures of peated whisky while remaining accessible to a new whisky drinker. When someone says they don’t like peated whisky they should try this. For seasoned peated drinkers, Embra has all of the hallmark flavours and textures of a great lightly peated whisky.
Holyrood Distillery was established in 2019 in the centre of Edinburgh’s historic old town. They pride themselves on an innovative approach to distilling, inspired by Edinburgh’s rich brewing history. There aim is to proactively explore new recipes using heritage malts, speciality malts and different yeasts in their production process.
