The Local Barley is an annual release made from barley grown in or around Campbeltown. Each year a local farmer is commissioned to grow barley on their behalf to continue producing this ‘grain to glass’ limited edition.
Different farms, barley varieties, cask maturations and length of time the whisky spends in the casks from one batch to the next allow each relese a unique tasting experience every time.
Farm: High Ranachan
Barley Variety: Bere
Cask Finish: 50% Bourbon, 50% Sherry
Distilled: July 1016 and bottled: December 2024. Limited to 13,500 bottles.
Nose: Notes of cracked black pepper, cigar box and sage on the nose introduces this year’s Local Barley.
Palate: There are notes of shortbread and salted caramel on the palate, along with a herbal, basil note.
Finish: A long, sweet finish with notes of toffee standing out.
This Single Malt Scotch Whisky has been distilled from barley grown on the Kintyre Peninsula within a few miles of the Springbank Distillery. The barley in then malted on their own malt floors using traditional production techniques before being turned into their Spirit, matured then into their whisky and bottled on site making this a 100% Campbeltown Single Malt Scotch Whisky.
