Balblair 12 year old Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky 46% 70cl

The Balblair Distillery was founded in 1790 and established by local man, John Ross, on the estate of the Rosses of Balnagown. In 1824 John Ross was joined by his son, Andrew, and thereafter the sons and grandsons of John who operated the Balblair farm and distillery until the last years of the 19th century.

1n 1894 James Ross gave up the tenancy of Balblair to Alexander Cowan, a wine merchant from Inverness who transformed the distillery, building offices, a still house, mash house, kiln and barns.

The Distillery was mothballed in 1911 until 1949 when Robert James “Bertie” Cumming, a solicitor from Banff, purchased the distillery for £48,000. In 1970 Bertie sells Balblair to a man named Hiram Walker, whose company would later become Allied Distillers. Then in 1996 the Distillery was purchased by Inver House Distilleries.
