This unique Caol Ila Single Malt Whisky was distilled and filled at the Caol Ila Distillery in 2012.
Matured first in a refill sherry butt then finished in a cask which previously held Pineau des Charentes a highly revered ancient fortified wine of the Cognac region in Western France.
This has resulted in this whisky having notes os smoulderig beach bonfires, toasted almonds, gingerbread, charred citrus peel and dark toffee.

The Pineau des Charentes Casks have previously aged a wonderful fortified wine.
They are made from two parts, barely fermented grapes and one part Cognac in the Charentes region of Western France. Pineau is aged in oak barrels, critical to giving the wine its soft edge and its nutty-sweet ripe fruit character, enjoyed mostly as an apertif drink.
The original PINTAIL named after the dabbling duck with its distinctive pointed tail feathers, was first bottled and distributed by Perth based Wines and Spirits Merchant Matthew Gloag & Son in 1931. The label has been resurrected in all its original glory, including the 'DUCK IN FLIGHT' icon.
