This Mystery Malt offers Murray McDavid's specially selected single malt to puzzle whisky lovers. Named by region leaving you to work out which distillery you believe where this single malt was created.
The clue is: Established in 1836 this speyside single malt was produced at a family run distillery set in 'the glen of the green grass'. Overlooked by the rolling hills of Benrinnes. This traditional producer has delivered a sherry finish importing sherry casks from bodegas of Spain.
Distilled in 2009 and bottled in 2024 and limited to only 644 bottles.
Non chill filtered and Natural Colour bottled at 58.4%
Matured for 15 years in a 500 litre Sherry Butt, old school whisky maturation. The European Oak cask , coopered with thick heavy staves to create the perfect environment to deliver the timeless flavour of Speyside.
Nose: Cinnamon bun, orange jelly, raisin.
Palate: Stewed fruits, creamy cigar, spice.
Finish: Oily sweetness, moreish oak, mocha.
Since 1994 Murray McDavid have been poineers in the Art of Maturation by aging whisky in casks previously used for fine wines and spirits. Mystery Malt is a Single Malt Scotch Whisky allowing you to work out which distillery produced the spirit.
