The Connoisseurs Choice Range by Gordon & MacPhail was created in 1968 by Mr George Urqhart to showcase seldom seen single malts when most whiskies were being used as Blends. Over the decades, this pioneering range has featured more than 2,000 bottlings from almost 100 Scottish Distilleries. Always non-chill filtered these rare, single cask and small batch expressions have been created over four generations.
Gordon & MacPhail is an independent bottler and distiller of Scotch Whisky, founded in 1895 and located in Elgin in the north-east of Scotland. James Gordon and John Alexander MacPhail established a grocery business and started in the scotch whisky business. In the early days John Urquhart started as an apprentice and quicky established himself as a valuable associate for James Gordon in selecting, purchasing, and maturing whiskies from local distilleries. John Urquhart developed his skills as a Master of Malt Whisky, building an impressive portfolio of maturing whisky casks. John continued to run the business and was then able to pass his knowledge and passion for whisky to his family.
Whisky Castle in the village of Tomintoul was established in 1904 and is a Gordon & MacPhail Scottish retailer.
